Subject: Re: Seeking a Berth

Dear Sirs.

Aa'm ower the moon that aa've bin accepted as an honourable member of yer crew.

However I must ask as to what my assigned rank is and what duties I must perform be it aboard or in absentia. It would appear that Andy has the position of ship's cat and dogsbody.

I'm very good at swinging the lamp and on occasion have proved very adept at swinging the lead.

I am good at watch-keepng too, I have 8 -12 in my collection as proof of my talent in keeping watches.

In regard to my state of temperance I can assure you that after having spent 5 years at sea on ships filled with confirmed drunken sailors, there is no danger of a motley crew of three driving me to drink. Jumping overboard perhaps but drink ....... NEVER.

I will follow your voyage with the interest of an honourable crew member.

             Bon Voyage.

                               4th. Matenoel.

Dear Shipmate,

Your application has been put to the crew and after careful consideration we have made you an honourable member of the crew.

The link is from Andy (ships cat and general dogsbody) and Trish.

The non drinking driver sounds appealing but believe me. Sailing with this motley crew will drive you to drink!

Also at 75 I think the age is just about right. A little adventure in maturity is what is keeping us all young.

Nice to hear from you and watch our website.

Regards

Alfie

Subject: Seeking a Berth

Ahoy kind sirs.

Will make this as short as possible.
Got an e-mail from Trish in Vancouver and it had your web-address which I
looked at.
I would like to make it fourmeninaboat should the opportunity ever arise.
I am a Gateshead lad but have lived in California since 1959.
I come home sometimes which gives me opportunities.
I am an old hand .........75 and getting older.
I would make a good whatever it takes.
I was a Sea Scout in Newcastle's 1st.Tyne troop, learned to sail on a 55ft
Yawl out of Blyth.

5 years in the Merchant Navy as an Engineer with Royal Mail Lines, 1 year
steam - 4 years diesel.

Built boats for 25 years in Southern California, mostly sail, 3 years
power-boats with Glastron-Carlson.

It would be foolish not to keep me in mind as I would make a good helmsman
cos I don't drink.
and could be the designated driver.

I know that Port isn't always a wine and a bow is not always in your hair or
on your bonnet.
You could make me a crew member in absentia and list me in the ship's
articles.
OH, and I'm a devout member of the overseas Toon Army, won't sail with
Mackems.
I'd kip in the cockpit, on deck, in the focs'le, at my age I don't care.
I'm a good cook, got my training on galley primus-stoves at sea.
I can swim but hey, I don't want to be crawling after the boat.

PLEASE CONSIDER ME, aa'm a canny lad like.

Sincerely yours,
                         Noel Kelly.
PS. If this doesn't make you smile then I don't want to be with you
miserable sods.
